Profile
I have spent 17 years building hotel technology at FASTBOOKING and D-EDGE, starting with the original website CMS and the backend and frontend libraries that still power D-EDGE hotel websites. Since October 2025 I have focused on AI tools that people actually use and benefit from: they support every new hotel-client onboarding, and I piloted a guest-facing booking assistant. Along the way I led a 6-developer team at RISE, co-founded Androidiani (600K+ users) and talk about AI on YouTube, in my podcast and at live events.
Professional experience
D-EDGE Hospitality Solutions, formerly FASTBOOKING
Mar 2009 - present | Italy
Senior Back End Developer | Jan 2017 - present, hybrid | AI projects as main focus since Oct 2025
- AI adoption: built content and website tools used by 15+ colleagues, including project managers, in every new hotel-client onboarding; estimated 10-30x faster on selected tasks against internal baselines.
- Guest-facing assistant: built and piloted an embeddable AI web component using page elements and internal APIs to handle requests like “book a room for 14 February”, suggesting a room and guiding guests.
- Knowledge discovery: connected agents to existing tools via MCP and CLIs for natural-language search across scattered sources, e.g. which Italian hotels use a given website feature. Colleagues first queried it directly; their AI agents now query it automatically. Rejected a standalone RAG stack to limit maintenance.
- Agent safety and privacy: set up isolated workspaces, split credentials and human production sign-off. Assessed self-hosted LLMs for GDPR and EU AI Act fit; paused pending budget and a clear use case.
- Enablement: wrote AI tool user guides; ran two technical courses for about 10 developers.
- Product ownership: product owner on most of the projects above, agreeing release scope and priorities with management and stakeholders; also built cookie-consent and certificate-automation services.
Back End Developer | Mar 2009 - Jan 2017
- Created the original WordPress CMS, which now powers D-EDGE’s hotel website portfolio.
- Original developer of WebSDK (2013), connecting hotel websites and the booking engine; by 2017 also delivered performance improvements, a TypeScript rewrite and new endpoints. It now also runs within the booking engine at thousands of requests per second.
Androidiani.com | Co-founder & CTO
Nov 2008 - Dec 2025 | parallel venture
- Co-founded and ran an Italian Android community with 600K+ registered users. Owned infrastructure, re-architecting servers as traffic peaked at 350K daily users and millions of page views.
- Direct reports, paid and volunteer: 2 software developers, the blog editor-in-chief and forum administrators; coordinated approximately 10 editorial contributors and 10 forum moderators.
- Joint authority with the co-founder over team selection, priorities, budgets and spending.
RISE | Tech Lead, external consultant
2017 - 2019 | freelance, alongside D-EDGE
- Led a 6-developer team through the TypeScript rewrite of the RISE network node, shipped to mainnet as Core 1.0.0 (Apr 2018) with 99% code coverage; managed budgets and team selection.
Earlier experience: Web Developer & SEO, Mec314 (May 2008 - Mar 2009).
AI projects, open source and research
- pi-extensible-workflows (2026): deterministic, resumable multi-agent workflows for Pi, with parallel execution and review checkpoints; 240+ GitHub stars.
- Git Shield (2026): local secret and personal-data detection for AI-assisted development. Compared models on a small code-oriented test set, documenting detection quality, latency, licensing, false positives and missed detections.
- Earlier engineering work: 40+ Android apps; android-edittext-validator (1,400+ GitHub stars); nodes2-ts, a TypeScript port of Google’s S2 Geometry; comfoair-esp32.
- Security research (2017): ARK MVP bounty for an ARK-Node transaction bug, with proof of concept.
Public speaking and communication
